Description of Tasks
Arbitrators hear and decide disputes between opposing parties in private as an alternative to litigation in the courts. They are responsible for setting up appointments for parties to meet based on the parties' agreement, deciding procedural issues, and preparing written opinions or decisions regarding cases.
Professional knowledge in arbitration
Arbitrators must be able to use professional knowledge and skills in arbitration to identify the underlying concerns of disputants and assist to solve legal issues for client.
Professional knowledge and skills in negotiation and problem solving
Arbitrators must have good negotiation and problem solving knowledge and skills.
Minimum Requirements
- typically have a higher diploma or a bachelor's degree
- must be registered under the arbitration organisation
