Description of Tasks

Dentists examine, diagnose, and treat problems with patients' teeth, gums and related parts of the mouth. They provide advice and instruction on taking care of teeth and gums. They are also responsible for cleaning, polishing or bleaching teeth; and supervising dental hygienists, dental assistants and other staff.

Medicine and Dentistry

Dentists must have knowledge and techniques to diagnose and treat dental health, diseases, and deformities. These include symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive dental health-care measures.

Minimum Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in dental surgery (BDS).
• Must be registered dentists in Hong Kong under the Dentists Registration Ordinance and hold a valid practicing certificate issued by the Dental Council of Hong Kong
