Nurse
Description of Tasks
Nurses assess patient health problems, needs and provide patient care. They are responsible for advising patients on health and disease prevention, administering medications to patients and monitoring patients for reactions or side effects, teaching patients and their families how to manage illnesses or injuries, explaining medication at home after treatment, assisting doctors during consultation with patients, operating and monitoring medical equipment, maintaining medical records, planning and participating in health education programmes, health promotion and nurse education activities.
Therapy & counselling knowledge and skills
Nurses must have knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for counselling and guidance.
Personal care knowledge and skills
Nurses must have knowledge of principles and processes for providing personal care services
Minimum Requirements
- A pre-registration nursing programme of at least 3 years in duration, which is provided by a gazetted training school and accredited by the council.
- Must be a registered nurse with the Nursing Council of Hong Kong and hold a valid practicing certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong
