Ship Engineers (Maritime) control and participate in the operation, installation and maintenance of ship machinery and mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment on ship. They comprise a family of occupations namely 4th Engineer, 3rd Engineer, 2nd Engineer and Chief Engineer.

Minimum Requirements

• A higher diploma in mechanical (marine) engineering or above is usually required
• Certificates recognised by other countries if the officer is serving on international voyages
• Pass an eyesight test and undergo a medical examination
