LANGUAGE CENTRE

Manager (23240358)

The appointee will be tasked with a multifaceted leadership role within the team, offering comprehensive administrative support for the Language Centre's (LC) various programs, initiatives, and projects. This person will need to work closely with diverse teams and departments to ensure seamless communication between the Office and its key stakeholders, which include university faculties, departments, prospective candidates, and external entities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Head/Associate Heads and the Programme Management Committee of the LC in the overall administration and operation of the centre;
  • Supervise and guide a team of colleagues (office and technical staff) in providing administrative and logistic support for teaching, teaching/learning projects, functions/activities and new initiatives;
  • Oversee and monitor the Centre’s financial planning and accounts;
  • Perform committee work and to handle enquiries, and draft administrative correspondences;
  • Handle staffing exercises and human resources related issues;
  • Evaluate the impact of administrative actions on others, and analyse and improve processes with regard to streamlining and simplifying the workflow in the General Office;
  • Oversee and monitor the implementation of Self-funded Programme and running of the self-funded courses; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Possessing a recognised bachelor’s degree or higher with at least five years of post-qualification work experience;
  • Having excellent written and oral proficiency in English, Chinese and Putonghua and strong interpersonal skills;
  • Being a self-motivated and highly responsible professional with “can-do” attitude and always lead-by-example;
  • Having solid analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong ability to work independently; and
  • Being organised with good hands-on computer skills, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Photoshop.

The initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to performance review, mutual agreement and funding availability.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
