About the team

Trade Services Section ("TDS") is responsible for processing, checking, approval and monitoring the day-to-day operations of trade related transactions as well as the related risks control, such as L/C opening, L/C Advising, Confirmation, Transfer L/C, Import & Export documents checking, financing, Collection, settlement, irregular item investigation and periodic reporting etc.

Role requirements

  • Supervise daily activities of Import Team & ensure the team in compliance of banking policy and procedure.
  • Perform the duty of checking and approval of Import trade transactions and support Export trade transactions (e.g. L/C opening, bills collection, settlement, import & export financing, account receivables financing and L/C advising etc.).
  • Handle and review trade documents with proper compliance judgment.
  • Deal with internal and external customers on trade transactions related activities.
  • Conduct customers visits with marketing or front line representatives to explain and promote trade services and products, where necessary.
  • Conduct regular review on workflows, internal operational procedures and make suggestions for operational accuracy and efficiency improvements.
  • Identify potential operational risks in the daily activities and propose solutions.
  • Recommend actions in relation to change of laws, uniform customs & practices and government regulations.
  • As a team lead, develop staff members through work assignment, coaching and training.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects as needed.

Essential Functions

This position serves as the Import Team Head in TDS. Apart from performing the checking and approval functions in the daily trade related operations, the position holder will assist Section Head on the Section administration, enhancement planning and execution.

  • The individual respects for and commits to high standards of business conduct and integrity in conducting operations, reporting and etc.

Work experience, education and skills

  • University degree holder; 10-15 years of experience in Import and Export trade services operations with people management exposure;
  • A Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) Familiar with ICC rules (UCP600, ISBP, URR725 and URC522 etc.);
  • A Certified Banker (AHKIB) would be an advantage
  • Good communication and presentation skills;
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua;
  • and Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
