Reports To: Group Safety Manager - Operational Safety (Flight Data Management)

Department: Group Safety & Operational Risk Mgt (GSR)

Assist all aspects of GSORM Flight Data Centre’s operations relating to the acquisition, processing and analysis of flight data.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide 24-hour 7-day week ad-hoc Flight Data support services to Engineering (ENG) Maintenance Control in support of the Group’s operations (CX and LD), in accordance with the Engineering Organisation & Maintenance Procedures Manual (EOMP) and ensure ENG QA designated standards are met.
2. Assist in Flight Data Analysis in support of accident and incident investigations as directed by GSM-OS (FD).
3. Carry out routine review, analysis and validation of Flight Data and report any significant findings immediately to GSM-OS (FD).
4. Conduct Flight Data Analysis in support of Air Safety Reports (ASRs) & Mandatory Occurrence Reports (MORs) and prepare summaries for the company Safety Database.
5. Process specific requests for Flight Data Analysis by internal and external customers as directed by GSM-OS (FDM).
6. Prepare data, relevant information and provide support to the Flight Data Analysis Team (FDAT) in preparation for the Flight Data Analysis Review Committee (FDARC).
7. Maintain, update and develop the Flight Data Analysis Program database. Ensure the data quality and integrity in database.
8. Maintain and develop the Flight Data playback and analysis systems.
9. Maintain and develop the Flight Data Animation Systems.
10. Prepare and present Flight Data Analysis and Flight Animations in support of investigations, flight crew requests, training or for educational requirements/presentations as required.
11. Manage and develop the specialised FDC computer equipment, applications (software), database and network, liaise with IMT as required to ensure continuity of FDC services.
12. Conduct Flight Data quality check on all CX and LD aircraft, to ensure the flight data recording system are recording correctly and all regulatory requirements of the AOC and the AN(HK)O are met.
13. Facilitate safety briefings relating to Flight Data matters as required.
14. Secretary of the Flight Data Analysis Review Committee (FDARC).
15. Undertake Flight Data related projects and studies as directed by GSM-OS (FD).
16. Deputise for GSM-OS (FDM) in their absence.

Requirements

Skills

• Strong computer literacy, experience in computer programming
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Well-developed interpersonal skills.
• Ability to relate to all levels, both inside and outside the organisation.
• Ability to work unsupervised.

Knowledge

• Relevant aviation, engineering or technical discipline undergraduate degree.
• Sound operational knowledge and experience in the functions of the organisation (e.g. training management, aircraft operations, air traffic management, aerodrome operations, and maintenance organisation management).
• Sound knowledge and practical experience of Flight Data Recording Systems.
• Sound knowledge of safety & risk management principles and practices.
• Sound knowledge of Flight Operations.
• Good understanding of statistics and data mining technique.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years relevant work experience in airline or related industry
