Engineering Manager (Ref. 240812004-IE)

Duties

The Industrial Centre supports researchers and industrial partners in developing innovative applications using various advanced technologies, such as digital twin, immersive technologies, robotics and 3D printing, to boost productivity and enhance safety in a construction environment. The Centre is looking for an individual with a passion and good experience in applying these technologies to education and research.

The appointee will be required to:

(a) facilitate student learning and development, develop curriculum and pedagogy;

(b) lead subjects and programmes, promote teaching quality among peers;

(c) lead engineering teams to support research and knowledge transfer activities;

(d) assist in formulating strategic actions, deploying resources, overseeing implementation and evaluating outcomes;

(e) interface closely with peers of the University, industrial partners and clients; and

(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Centre or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a) a recognised degree, preferably a higher degree, in Civil Engineering or a related discipline;

(b) at least eight years of work experience, with a significant portion in a supervisory role in the building and construction industry;

(c) professional qualifications or certifications in the construction field;

(d) good knowledge of and expertise in advanced construction technologies such as digital twin, immersive technologies, collaborative robots, 3D printing and carbon-neutral materials; and

(e) a good command of written and spoken English.

Preference will be given to those with work experience in higher education institutions and research centres.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
