The Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health, Jockey Club College (JCC) of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences at City University of Hong Kong is recruiting an Associate/Assistant Professor in Veterinary Anatomy. The incumbent would be expected to teach Veterinary Anatomy within the College’s Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) degree programme. The BVM programme is run in collaboration with Cornell University, and the degree recently gained international dual accreditation with the UK’s Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and with the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council. The Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health consists of a strong multidisciplinary group of researchers and educators whose expertise encompass One Health, an area spanning the health of animals, humans and the environment. Duties
The appointee is expected to contribute to the development and implementation of the professional veterinary curriculum in the area of Veterinary Anatomy, foster excellence in veterinary education and research; coordinate undergraduate courses; develop and sustain a strong research programme; and carry out administrative work and other service duties to facilitate the development of the Department and the College as a whole.
Requirements
A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or an equivalent veterinary degree. A PhD in a relevant discipline (veterinary medicine, animal science, biology) or equivalent is highly preferred. Applicants must have demonstrable evidence of research success including a strong publication track record, the ability to obtain research funding, and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of an academic team. Teaching experience within the discipline of Veterinary Anatomy will be considered favourably.
Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance. Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable). Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
