Job Posting Details
Reporting to the Head (Resource Management), the appointee will be responsible for managing the acquisitions, metadata records, and access of serials collections. The appointee will:
- Assist in the daily operations of the serials team
- Liaise with vendors and publishers on complex acquisitions issues related to sourcing, selecting, and ordering library materials
- Assist in managing collection budget and expenditure
- Oversee the management of electronic resource lifecycles
- Troubleshoot access problems
- Lead usage harvesting projects and compile usage analysis reports
- Create and manage metadata for the discovery of library collections
- Manage weeding projects and records removal
- Be a resource of the application of metadata for bibliographic control of all intellectual and research output, including but not limited to monographs, journal articles and research data.
- Participate in library-wide projects and committees as needed
Applicants should have an MLS degree or equivalent in addition to a bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of post-qualification library experience, preferably in acquisitions or electronic resources management in an academic library. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment, and a learning mindset. Knowledge of Open Access publishing, OCLC system and Alma; experience with CONSER cataloging, RDA, MARC21, and linked data will be an advantage. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave and medical benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
